Union Berlin’s Mauro Lustrinelli Confirms Christopher Trimmel as Captain
In a recent interview with Sport Bild, Mauro Lustrinelli, the new head coach of Union Berlin, has officially confirmed that Christopher Trimmel will continue to serve as the team’s captain. The 39-year-old defender made 39 appearances for the club across all competitions last season, contributing five assists from his right-back position. Trimmel has significant experience with 194 Bundesliga appearances to his name.
Entering his 13th season with die Eisernen, Trimmel has made a total of 391 competitive appearances for the team. The Austrian international, who has earned 25 caps, could become the club’s all-time appearance leader this season. Alongside Trimmel, midfielder Rani Khedira and goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow form the club’s leadership council. This year, they may also be joined by rising Germany U21 international Aljoscha Kemlein.
