Body:
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially concluded his international soccer career. The 41-year-old forward revealed his decision on Thursday to retire from the Portuguese men’s national team. This announcement follows a recent 30-day suspension stemming from a disagreement with the newly appointed national team coach, Jorge Jesus.
In a five-minute video sharing his retirement, Ronaldo expressed, “The day has come for me to hand back the No. 7 shirt of our national team. I never felt it belonged to me alone, but for 23 years I had the privilege and the responsibility of wearing it, defending it and carrying it with me into stadiums all around the world.”
Ronaldo’s illustrious international career concludes with an impressive tally of 146 goals in 234 appearances over 23 years. He made history by joining Lionel Messi as the only men to compete in six World Cups, as both athletes took to the field during the 2026 tournament held in the United States.
