West Ham Secures Permanent Signing of Defender Estelle Cascarino
West Ham has officially signed France international Estelle Cascarino on a permanent deal after an initial six-month loan spell. The defender has agreed to a three-year contract and joins the club from Serie A side Juventus.
Cascarino spent the latter part of last season on loan at West Ham, making 12 appearances across all competitions. The 29-year-old was called back to the France squad in February and played a pivotal role in helping West Ham climb from the bottom of the table to 10th place.
“I feel really happy to be back at West Ham United,” said Cascarino. “I made the decision quickly that I wanted to be back here permanently. From the beginning, this club has felt like home. I enjoyed every minute of my time here.”
She added, “I’m looking forward to being here now for pre-season, to working with Rita [Guarino] and her staff and this group of players.”
During her three years at Juventus, Cascarino made 49 appearances and helped the team secure the league title, the Coppa Italia trophy, and the Supercoppa Italiana in the 2023-24 season. Her career also includes stints at Manchester United, Lyon, Paris FC, Bordeaux, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Manager Guarino expressed her satisfaction with the signing, stating, “We’re really pleased that Estelle has extended her stay with us. It was very important that we retained a defender of Estelle’s quality. Her impact when she arrived in January was crucial in us achieving our aim of securing our status as a WSL club.”
Guarino added, “Her experience and ability will be crucial as we look to progress this season, and I’m looking forward to working with her again.”
