Everton Signs Defender Hannah Blundell Permanently
Everton has finalized the permanent signing of defender Hannah Blundell, as announced earlier today via a post on their official club website.
The 32-year-old full-back joins the club on a free transfer after a successful loan spell during the latter half of last season.
Blundell initially joined Everton on loan from Manchester United in January, making 10 appearances and contributing to the club’s eighth-place finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Following her permanent move to Everton, Blundell expressed her joy, stating, “I am really happy. It is a proud moment for me and my family, and is something I wanted to do. As soon as I knew Scott [Phelan] was going to be the manager, it was an easy decision for me to stay. I am really excited to get going.”
She added, “I want to play alongside these players. You could see the happiness we had at the World Sevens tournament in May – I think everyone showed their true colours. The girls are fantastic. It makes it so easy to play alongside them, and I think that bodes well in bringing the togetherness in the group. Hopefully, that shows on the pitch as well as off the pitch.”
Blundell emphasized her pride in joining the club, saying, “The Club is a very special one. It is something I am very proud to be a part of. I think the history shows itself and I am extremely proud to be wearing the badge properly this time. Hopefully, we can create some special memories together.”
Her signing marks Everton’s third addition of the summer transfer window.
