Newcastle Defender Amar Dedić Involved in Bizarre Police Incident
In an unusual turn of events, Newcastle United defender Amar Dedić became the focus of a major police response this week. The 24-year-old, who joined Newcastle this summer for €35 million after a successful stint at Benfica, found himself in the midst of a peculiar situation reminiscent of his earlier, less notable time at Marseille.
Reports indicate that a passerby alerted authorities after spotting two men carrying a bow and arrows near a reservoir situated off Military Road in Harlow Hill. This sighting prompted a significant deployment of police, including at least six vehicles, some of which were armed response units.
Officers eventually traced Dedić and his companion to Darras Hall, approximately seven miles from the original location of the report. Upon stopping their vehicle, law enforcement conducted a search and seized the bow and arrows.
However, police quickly determined that the equipment was for “recreational use” and posed no threat to the public. The story took another unexpected twist when Newcastle teammates Mark Gillespie and former defender Paul Dummett happened to arrive on the scene. The pair offered assistance in communicating with law enforcement, and after discussions with the involved parties, officers concluded there was no threat to public safety.
Newcastle United is not expected to impose any disciplinary measures against Dedić in light of the incident.
