DR Congo’s Exit Leaves Six African Teams in 2026 FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has seen a reduction in African representation, with only six teams remaining following the elimination of DR Congo. The Leopards were knocked out after a competitive 2-1 loss to England in the Round of 32.

DR Congo initially took the lead in the match but struggled to maintain their advantage. England’s Harry Kane played a pivotal role in the game’s outcome, helping secure his team’s place in the next round.

Alongside DR Congo, Tunisia, South Africa, and Ivory Coast have also exited the tournament, further diminishing the African presence in this global event.

African teams eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup:

    • DR Congo
    • Tunisia
    • South Africa
    • Ivory Coast
