Eintracht Frankfurt has submitted a €5m bid for Ajax defender Anton Gaaei, 23, according to a report from Florian Plettenberg.

Die Adler recently re-appointed Adi Hütter as head coach. His primary task involves bringing European football back to Deutsche Bank Park following the team’s absence from continental competitions under Albert Riera.

Following Rasmus Kristensen’s €6m departure to Midtjylland, Frankfurt is working on a deal to sign his compatriot, Gaaei, from Ajax. The Bundesliga club has already reached an agreement with the right-back on a five-year contract that runs until 2031. Ajax has yet to respond to the opening bid for the Denmark international, who appeared in 37 matches across all competitions for the Eredivisie side last season.

During his three-year spell at Ajax, Gaaei has made 111 appearances in all competitions. He has recorded seven goals and 13 assists since completing his €4.5m transfer from Viborg in August 2023.
