Frosinone’s Historic Start Acknowledged by Coach Alvini After 5-1 Victory Against Lecce
Massimiliano Alvini is enjoying a record-breaking moment with Frosinone after a 5-1 hammering of Lecce. “I believe that football is entertainment,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to securing Serie A safety.
This season has been historic for Frosinone, with 17 points amassed in nine matches, marking the best start for a team promoted from Serie B, equaling Juventus’ record return from Calciopoli in 2007/08.
Frosinone currently sits in sixth place on the Serie A table, three points ahead of Napoli and Juventus, while trailing Milan by just one point.

“I believe that football is entertainment, it is a spectacle, both good and bad,” Alvini stated during an interview with DAZN Italia.
“You go to the stadium to be entertained, so the coach tries to find the best way to achieve the result. Football is the most beautiful sport in the world, if it’s fun too, then it’s even better.”
The match against an injury-stricken Lecce never seemed in jeopardy, and the convincing 5-1 scoreline was well-earned. Frosinone ranks as one of the most offensive teams in Serie A, having scored 22 goals in their first nine games, trailing only Roma and Inter.
This is a new benchmark, as no other newly-promoted side has scored as many goals after their first nine Serie A matches.
During their last three games alone, Frosinone found the net an impressive 13 times, defeating Sassuolo 4-2 and Lecce 5-1, alongside a thrilling 4-4 draw against Atalanta.

Alvini noted, “Lecce came here with different tactics to usual, so we could’ve struggled to make the most of our traditional moves.” He also addressed comparisons between Giorgi Kvernadze and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, mentioning their distinct playing styles.
“He is a different player from Kvaratskhelia. Kvara is more creative and always tries to dribble, whereas Kvernadze is more physical and runs non-stop,” he added.
“I want to give credit to the lads today. We really played as a team; individualism isn’t suited to this kind of football.”

Despite the remarkable opening to the season, Alvini seeks to maintain a grounded perspective. “The objective is Serie A safety; we have 17 points, and that won’t be enough, so let’s not look at the table right now, it tells lies.”
