Liverpool Forward’s Future in Limbo as Transfer Talks Restart

Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa Linked with January Move to Inter Milan

Liverpool made big improvements to their frontline over the summer.

While the Reds had to contend with the loss of Mohamed Salah, they moved decisively for Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz.

With Alexander Isak recovering his form and Hugo Ekitike in the hunt to return from injury, Andoni Iraola now has favorable options up top.

Additionally, Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo contribute to the depth, while Lewis Koumas has proven to be a valuable addition to the first-team squad.

The influx of new talent positions some existing players, including Federico Chiesa, in uncertain territory.

Federico Chiesa is wanted by Inter

The 29-year-old joined Liverpool back in 2024 for £12.5 million from Juventus. Despite securing a contract until 2028, Chiesa’s stint at Anfield has been challenging.

Although he can claim a Premier League title as part of the squad, his time has been marred by injuries and limited appearances in the first team.

It was speculated over the summer that he might transfer to Inter Milan, contingent upon the Nerazzurri offloading Luis Henrique. However, Cristian Chivu was unable to clear space for the Brazilian winger, leaving Chiesa in Liverpool.

Talks resume for Inter-Chiesa deal

A report in Tutto Mercato Web indicates that negotiations for a January transfer of Chiesa to Inter have been revived. The discussions suggest that Chiesa could soon be free to kickstart his career in Serie A.

The report notes, “In recent days, Inter has inquired about long-time favorite Federico Chiesa, who could leave Liverpool in January to return to Serie A and relaunch his career after a difficult period in England.”

Chiesa reportedly earns around £5 million per year at Liverpool, a salary that may challenge most Italian clubs. When factoring in a potential transfer fee, the likelihood of a deal becomes less feasible for the Italian champions.

Nevertheless, the report suggests that Chivu’s team is considering a LOAN arrangement for Chiesa, a solution that might benefit all involved.

“A loan deal until June is a viable solution, satisfying the needs of both parties.”

What lies ahead for Chiesa as his contract nears its final year remains to be determined.
