Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has entered a crucial phase after club president Joan Laporta confirmed that the club has submitted an official offer to Atletico Madrid.
The latest transfer news places the Argentine striker at the top of Hansi Flick’s wishlist, with Barcelona pushing to complete one of the biggest deals of the summer.

As reported earlier, Barcelona’s bid for Julian Alvarez is worth around €100 million, and the club is currently awaiting a response from Atletico Madrid.
While optimism persists within the club, reports suggest that the Blaugrana are not willing to wait indefinitely, with Laporta indicating that other options will be explored if negotiations fail to progress.
Barcelona remains firm on Julian Alvarez valuation
The Barcelona transfer for Julian Alvarez remains the club’s top priority this summer, but they have no plans to increase their guaranteed offer beyond €100 million.
Club officials believe this figure accurately reflects the striker’s market value while aligning with Barcelona’s financial plans.

Rather than increasing the fixed transfer fee, Barcelona are willing to enhance the overall package by including performance-based bonuses.
These bonuses could relate to major team achievements, such as winning La Liga or the UEFA Champions League, as well as individual milestones that Alvarez could reach.
Consequently, the current offer for Julian Alvarez is expected to become more appealing through achievable bonuses rather than a higher guaranteed sum.
Laporta provides update to Atletico Madrid
Speaking about the negotiations, Laporta confirmed that Barcelona has already made their move and is now awaiting Atletico Madrid’s response.

While the Julian Alvarez transfer remains Barcelona’s preferred option, the club has no intention of allowing this negotiation to overshadow their entire summer.
Despite making Alvarez their primary target, Barcelona are preparing for all scenarios.
If Atletico Madrid refuses to negotiate or continues delaying their decision, Barcelona’s summer transfer plans could shift towards other attacking options identified by Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.

In this context, Laporta emphasized that both Flick and Deco are united in their desire to sign the Argentina international, but he stressed the importance of being prepared to pivot if the situation does not evolve.
“Flick and Deco want Julian… but if Atlético do not accept, we will work on alternative options,” he concluded.
