Wales Includes Joe Rodon in Squad for Upcoming Nations League Matches
Wales has named Joe Rodon in their squad for the forthcoming Nations League fixtures, despite the defender being sidelined for over two months. The Leeds United player suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Brentford on August 30, which caused him to miss the previous international window. During that time, Wales struggled in their League A campaign, recording three losses and achieving a surprising victory against World Cup quarter-finalists Norway.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke noted last week that the 29-year-old has made a controlled return to training, although it remains unclear if he will participate in Saturday’s match against Tottenham. Rodon’s inclusion significantly boosts the squad for Wales head coach Craig Bellamy, who has named a 26-man team to face Norway on November 14, followed by a home game against Portugal in Cardiff on November 17.
In addition to Rodon, both Harry Wilson of Leeds and Manchester United goalkeeper Karl Darlow return to the squad after recovering from injuries that kept them out of the initial Nations League matches. However, Cardiff defender Dylan Lawlor and Wrexham forward Nathan Broadhead remain unavailable.
Wolves midfielder Jordan James has dropped out due to injury sustained on Saturday, paving the way for on-loan Oxford midfielder Kai Andrews to move up from the Under-21 squad. Furthermore, Bristol City goalkeeper Joe Duncan, currently on loan at National League side Southend, replaces Tom King in the squad. Duncan, who is 20 years old, has previously represented Jamaica at Under-23 level and trained with the senior squad during a summer camp in London.
Cardiff forward Rubin Colwill will also return after an injury layoff, taking the place of Wes Burns.
