Real Madrid Secures Commanding 3-0 Victory Over Racing Club in La Liga Match
Real Madrid continued their impressive performance following a win against FC Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season, achieving a decisive 3-0 victory against Racing Club in their latest La Liga encounter. The match took place in Santander, where despite Racing Club’s recent success at home, the Merengues quickly established control, taking a three-goal lead before halftime. Goals came from Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Yan Diomande.
In a post-match press conference reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho expressed his views on the match. He emphasized the challenge of the game despite the final score, saying that El Sardinero’s energy and Racing’s combative nature made it a tough outing. He explained, “Even when they were losing 0-3, they were still dangerous. It is a match you could win 0-4 or 0-5 based on the chances we created in the second half, but it could also have become complicated.”
Mourinho acknowledged the importance of the victory amid a busy schedule ahead. He praised his players’ efforts, highlighting their defensive commitment. “It is something that exists throughout the team at the moment. Of course, some players have greater physical and tactical attributes for defensive work, but I have also seen others showing tremendous commitment. The team is growing and playing well,” he noted.
The coach also pointed out that while the team should be converting more of their chances, they have shown significant improvement. “In a low block, the team knows how to stay compact. I am happy with that progress,” he added.
Mourinho reflected on his relationship with the players, stating, “There is good human empathy, so to speak. A good relationship between the players and the coach. We are in a good place,” while also expressing caution about upcoming matches.
Discussing a controversial handball incident involving Aurelien Tchouameni, Mourinho asserted that it was not a penalty. “My opinion is that… they protest everything. The Tchouameni incident is never a penalty because the ball rebounds off his body. It is never a penalty,” he explained, defending the referee’s decision-making during the match.
The Portuguese tactician also offered insights into his player selections, noting the emotional aspect of the game and the importance of confidence. He shared the rationale behind not utilizing all five substitutions, citing the need to manage player workloads with forthcoming matches in mind. “A match is only settled when the referee blows the final whistle,” he stated.
As Real Madrid prepares for the challenges ahead, Mourinho is focused on maintaining the team’s good form while navigating the demands of a congested schedule.
