Karim Adeyemi Nears FC Barcelona Move Ahead of Pre-Season Training
Karim Adeyemi’s move to FC Barcelona is entering its final stages.
According to SPORT, the German international is scheduled to arrive in the Catalan capital on Wednesday, July 15, to complete the formalities ahead of becoming Hansi Flick’s newest signing.
Adeyemi is expected to land in Barcelona on a private flight early in the morning before undergoing his medical examination and signing the paperwork that will officially seal his transfer.
Barring any unexpected issues, the La Liga champions plan to announce the deal later that day.
Straight into pre-season
There will be little time to settle in for the forward. Once the contract is signed, Adeyemi will immediately join the first-team squad and is expected to take part in training on Thursday, July 16, at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
The session will mark his first opportunity to work under Flick and the fourth day of Barcelona’s pre-season preparations.
The squad will already have completed its first double training day by the time the German winger joins the group.
Although the transfer is effectively complete, Barcelona are expected to delay Adeyemi’s official unveiling until next week.
The Catalans intend to hold the presentation once president Joan Laporta returns from the United States, where he is accompanying the Spanish national team during the closing stages of the World Cup.
Contract until 2031
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement worth €22 million in fixed fees, with an additional €7 million in performance-related bonuses.
The German club will also retain a 20 percent sell-on clause as part of the deal.
Adeyemi is expected to sign a contract running until 2031, becoming Barcelona’s second major attacking signing of the summer following the arrival of Anthony Gordon.
For Flick, the signing brings in a player he knows well from his time in charge of the German national team.
The Barcelona coach values Adeyemi’s pace, direct running and ability to beat defenders in 1v1 situations, qualities the club wanted to add to its attacking options heading into the new season.
With the deal now all but complete, Adeyemi is set to begin the next chapter of his career in Barcelona within the next 24 hours.
