Real Madrid Eyes La Liga Points Against Tough Opponent Racing Santander
Real Madrid’s recent win over Barcelona in last week’s clásico might inspire José Mourinho’s squad to intensify their La Liga campaign. As they gear up to face Racing Santander on Sunday, securing all three points has become essential.
Racing Santander poses a formidable challenge, remaining unbeaten in five home matches in La Liga this season. They are buoyed by their recent victory against Espanyol, which saw them clinch a late winner just six minutes before the final whistle.
Although Real Madrid enters as the favorite thanks to their talented roster, Mourinho’s team has struggled against teams that employ low defensive setups. Racing will likely provide stiff resistance.

What to watch for
In their match against Barcelona, Mourinho successfully balanced his tactics, achieving an impressive result in his second spell as Real Madrid manager. This performance indicated that Los Blancos might contend seriously for the title this season.
However, the match against Racing presents a different tactical landscape. Real Madrid is unlikely to find ample space to attack, necessitating a strategy to break down a packed defense.
Racing Santander has yet to secure a clean sheet in their ten La Liga matches, conceding 17 goals in their last five games. For the promoted side to stand a chance against the likes of Kylian Mbappé, they will need to tighten their defense.
Player to watch: Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid – Currently, only Raphinha has netted more goals in La Liga than Mbappé this season. As Real Madrid’s key offensive player, his contribution is vital, especially with Vinícius Júnior sidelined due to a red-card suspension.
