Luis de La Fuente’s Key Decisions Lead Spain to World Cup Victory
Spain manager Luis de La Fuente made several bold decisions ahead of the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, which in hindsight all paid off.
Some of his biggest decisions, in fact, came before the tournament at the time when he announced the list of players he was calling up for the event.

As part of his selection process, the manager dropped some of Spain’s biggest veteran stars, including two former captains, Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Morata, but many of the omitted stars did make their way to New York to witness the eventual final.
A special moment
It was Barcelona’s Ferran Torres who scored the winning goal for Spain against Argentina in the final, and given how the goal came after a gruelling 106 minutes, the celebrations in the Spanish camp were aggressive.
Following the hard-fought win against Lionel Messi & co. Lamine Yamal was seen sharing a special moment with former captain Morata during the same period.

The Barcelona winger was seen in a long embrace with the former Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid striker in the celebrations after the goal, showing the respect and mutual admiration that both players share.
It also showcased how the Spanish national team are a true family even beyond the field and how the previous generation including Morata remain so close to the new crop of players like Lamine.
A much-needed reset
After the conclusion of the World Cup, Yamal and the rest of the Spanish contingent from Barcelona will finally embark on a long and much-needed vacation.

The players will have a minimum of three weeks off and are only expected to return to training in the second week of August, just days before Barcelona’s league opener for the new season.
Given how the previous season ended in injury and the efforts Yamal had to put in to regain fitness in time for the World Cup, the player will look forward to the break to come back at his 100%.
