DR Congo Goalkeeper Expresses Pride After World Cup Elimination
Lionel Mpasi, the goalkeeper for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), reflected on the significant impact of his team following their World Cup journey in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Despite suffering a 2–1 defeat to England in the round of 32, Mpasi paid tribute to the DRC Leopards for their historic campaign.
In a heartfelt social media post, Mpasi conveyed his pride in representing the DRC on such a prominent platform. He acknowledged the team’s efforts and the legacy they created for Congolese football, stating, “Proud of this whole team, proud to have represented the DRC on the world’s biggest stage with heart and courage.”
While expressing disappointment over the elimination, Mpasi emphasized that the team’s representation and the image they left behind for Congolese and African football holds greater significance than the result.
