England’s World Cup Journey Ends with Narrow Loss to Argentina

England’s hopes of securing a World Cup title dwindled in a dramatic clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as Argentina staged a late comeback to advance to the final against Spain.

Throughout much of the match, Thomas Tuchel’s team looked the stronger side, with Manchester City midfielder Elliot Anderson injecting energy and intensity into England’s play in the first half.

However, a reckless moment resulted in a yellow card for Anderson due to serious foul play in the 37th minute. This booking led to his substitution just after the hour mark, depriving England of one of their key players at a critical phase of the game.

England took the lead when Anthony Gordon tapped in a cross from Morgan Rogers in the 55th minute, a goal that reflected their overall performance. City centre-back Marc Guehi had a commanding presence, consistently thwarting Argentina’s attacks and appearing poised to lead England to their first World Cup final since 1966.

Meanwhile, fellow City teammate James Trafford remained on the bench, with Jordan Pickford taking his place in goal.

Nico O’Reilly, who entered the game late for Declan Rice, could only watch as England’s hopes dwindled. Messi, with two assists on the night, leads his team forward while England’s journey comes to a painful halt.
