Manchester United are currently in advanced negotiations to sign Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to recent reports.

Journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic confirmed that all involved parties remain in contact as Manchester United works to finalize a transfer for the Belgium international.

The report notes that Tielemans is eager to secure a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United previously pursued Atalanta midfielder Ederson, though that deal is currently off. The club may choose to revisit their interest in Ederson later in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old Tielemans joined Aston Villa from Leicester City on a free transfer in 2023 and has since become a central figure in Unai Emery’s midfield lineup.

The Belgian international previously played for Anderlecht, Monaco, and Leicester. During his time at Leicester, he scored the winning goal in the 2021 FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Should the transfer proceed, the move would bolster Michael Carrick’s midfield options before the upcoming Premier League season begins. Neither Manchester United nor Aston Villa have issued public comments regarding these ongoing negotiations.
