The award for best player went to a newly crowned world champion. City midfielder Rodri was presented with the coveted Golden Ball.

Best Young Player

Somewhat surprisingly, the best young player award did not go to Lamine Yamal, but to Pau Cubarsi. At just 19, the Barca player is Spain’s rock at the back and played a huge part in La Roja conceding only one goal throughout the entire tournament.

Best Goalkeeper

Just one goal conceded — so Spain’s Unai Simon was the clear choice for best goalkeeper.

Top Scorer

Since Messi did not score a hat-trick, the top of the scoring charts remained unchanged, and already eliminated France forward Kylian Mbappé secured the Golden Boot.
