Nottingham Forest Signs Codie Thomas on Loan from Manchester City
Nottingham Forest has secured the signing of defender Codie Thomas on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City, as confirmed in an official club press release from The Tricky Trees this evening.

The 19-year-old has been part of Manchester City’s academy since the age of nine. She worked her way up to the senior squad and made her first-team debut under former City manager Gareth Taylor during the 2024/2025 season. Thomas has since made four senior appearances for The Cityzens.
On the international front, Thomas has represented England at the Under-19 level.
Upon completing her loan move to Nottingham Forest, Thomas expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m really excited to be here and to get started.”
“Last season, I had the opportunity to play in the SWPL with Glasgow City, where I learned a lot from spending time away from home for the first time. Coming here now is a great opportunity and one I’m really looking forward to,” she continued.

Thomas also mentioned her conversations with Tom Mallinson about the move, saying, “His ideas, ambition and motivation to succeed really stood out to me and made the decision an easy one. It feels like a really exciting time to be joining the club.”
As she looks ahead to her time at Nottingham Forest, Thomas highlighted her strengths: “As a player, I’ve always enjoyed the defensive side of the game, and I feel my 1v1 defending and pace are among my biggest strengths. I enjoy getting forward to contribute with assists and, hopefully, a few goals too.”
Thomas marks Nottingham Forest’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
