Rangers Set to Bid for Brighton’s Amario Cozier-Duberry Amid Growing Interest

If a recent transfer update from The Scottish Sun is true, Rangers are plotting a move for Amario Cozier-Duberry and have prepared a bid for the Brighton & Hove Albion youngster. The Seagulls have rejected an offer of around £5m from Anderlecht, as the emerging attacking ace is also drawing interest from Hull City, West Ham United, Paris FC & Red Bull Salzburg.

The 21-year-old England youth international progressed through Chettle Court Rangers and Arsenal’s academy ranks before completing a Bosman move to Brighton in the summer of 2024. However, he was immediately sent on loan to Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship, followed by a season-long spell in the third division with Bolton Wanderers.

Cozier-Duberry demonstrated his expertise for the Trotters, scoring 10 goals and assisting 13 times in 41 appearances across competitions [stats via Transfermarket]. His flair down the right-hand flank earned them promotion via the play-offs, and the Light Blues are now keen to have him in their ranks following Andreas Skov Olsen and Oliver Antman’s failed stints last season.

How Rangers Are Showing Ambition After A Disappointing Season

Meanwhile, Rangers are rebuilding the squad under Derek McInnes, who has been appointed as Danny Rohl’s successor. The Scotsman has done wonders with Hearts, but the challenge would be bigger at Ibrox, given the expectations of redeeming the lost glory by conquering the coveted Premiership crown.

The Gers have already roped in six new names, with Ross McCrorie and Ben Godfrey to bolster the backline. Ivor Pandur has been brought in between the sticks, and the arrivals of Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin should strengthen their midfield. They are also closing in on Partizan’s Vanja Dragojevic, but the veteran Lawrence Shankland remains their only addition high up the pitch.

Why Rangers Must Bring Him In To Bolster Their Attack

Skov Olsen has returned to Wolfsburg after his disappointing loan, and the Glasgow giants are left with Antman, Thelo Aasgaard and Danilo, who were rotated down the right in the previous campaign. Antman failed to make an impact due to form and fitness, whereas Danilo, surplus to requirements, is expected to part ways soon. Aasgaard is not an outright wide attacker, which further justifies their pursuit of Cozier-Duberry.

Although Brighton want him to commit his future in East Sussex, the lack of assured minutes could prompt him to explore a fresh opportunity elsewhere. Joining Rangers would offer him key first-team status and European experience. But it won’t be a straightforward deal for McInnes, with several suitors monitoring his situation south of the border.
