Lazio agreed to sell Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd weeks ago, but there has been little progress, with suggestions that the Qatari club may be backing out of the transfer.

This deal appears to have faced challenges from the outset, as Romagnoli had been eager to leave since January, even bidding farewell to the fans.

However, the transfer fell apart as paperwork was not completed by the deadlne, meaning he remained with the club for an additional six months.

Romagnoli Still Waiting for Al-Sadd

Reports indicated by the end of June that Romagnoli had already signed the contract with Al-Sadd for a transfer estimated at around €3 million.

However, a month has passed, and he remains in Italy, awaiting final confirmation.

According to La Repubblica newspaper and Tuttomercatoweb, Al-Sadd may be hesitant regarding the three-year contract valued at €18 million net.

The global political landscape adds to the uncertainty, raising the possibility that Romagnoli’s move could collapse for a second time within six months.

The 31-year-old defender is still contracted with Lazio until the season’s end, having joined the team as a free agent from AC Milan in 2022.
