Udinese to Decide on Kosta Runjaic’s Future This Afternoon
Udinese is expected to make a decision regarding Kosta Runjaic’s future this afternoon, with former Verona coach Paolo Zanetti emerging as the leading candidate to take over. According to Calciomercato.com, citing Sky Sport Italia, the German coach’s position has become increasingly precarious following Saturday’s 5-2 home defeat to Roma, where Gian Piero Gasperini’s team surged to a 4-0 lead within just 37 minutes at the Bluenergy Stadium.
The defeat left Udinese languishing on five points after ten matches, with seven losses in their last eight league games. A recent 0-0 draw with Parma ended a string of six consecutive losses but provided only a temporary reprieve for Runjaic.

Zanetti Considered Leading Candidate for Udinese Role
Zanetti has been without a managerial role since his departure from Verona in February. He is eager to return to coaching and has expressed interest in the Udinese position. Although Roberto D’Aversa was also viewed as a potential candidate, his chances of being appointed are believed to have diminished.
Udinese is imposing strict criteria for any potential new coach, offering a contract only valid until June and allowing the new hire to bring along just two staff members of their choice. While Zanetti appears to be in the lead for the position, other unexpected candidates may still emerge.
Whoever takes the reins will face a critical relegation battle against Venezia, currently at the bottom of Serie A, this Friday.
