Duncan Ferguson Signs Winger Nathan Shaw for Glentoran
Glentoran has strengthened its squad with the signing of English winger Nathan Shaw, marking Duncan Ferguson’s inaugural transfer as the team’s manager. Shaw has agreed to a contract that will see him through to the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has already trained with the team and arrives from Scottish Championship club Greenock Morton. Shaw, who is adept at playing on both the left and right flanks, began his career at Blackpool, where he made four appearances for the senior team.
He has also had successful loan spells at Bamber Bridge, AFC Fylde, and Stockport County before securing a permanent move to Fylde. His next step took him to Inverness, where he enjoyed a standout season, netting 10 goals and playing a key role as the team reached the 2023 Scottish Cup final, competing against Celtic at Hampden Park.
Following his tenure at Inverness, Shaw joined Morton in June 2024, participating in 62 matches over two seasons before leaving earlier this year.
Shaw expressed enthusiasm about joining Glentoran, stating that he “jumped at the chance” after Ferguson approached him.
“The opportunity to join a club like Glentoran and be part of what he wants to achieve here really appealed to me,” he remarked.
He added, “I’ve been here for the past couple of weeks, and that’s made me even more certain this is where I want to be. You quickly get a sense of how big the club is, how much it means to people, and the expectation to compete for trophies.”
Shaw praised Ferguson’s dedication, noting, “You can see how determined Duncan is to bring success here. He’s putting the hours in and is very hands-on in training. He’ll stop a session, show you what he wants, and work through it until everyone understands their job and how he wants the team to play.”
The new winger affirmed his commitment to contributing to the team’s success, saying, “I want to play my part by creating chances, scoring goals, and helping the team win. I know I have to earn my place, and I’m determined to do that.”
