Spain Players Dominate Individual Awards at World Cup Following Victory Over Argentina

Spain players secured all three main individual awards at the World Cup, clinching a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final.

An extra-time goal from Ferran Torres sealed the narrow win for La Roja in a tense final in New Jersey, where Spain’s dominance was not fully reflected in the scoreline, as they outplayed their opponents.

Under the leadership of Luis de la Fuente, Spain delivered a fantastic performance following their superb semi-final win over France, solidifying their status as the strongest team in this summer’s tournament. After the final whistle at MetLife Stadium, they were honored with the three main individual player awards.

The final individual award, the Golden Boot for top goalscorer, went to Kylian Mbappe, who scored two goals in the third-place match against England, totaling ten goals in the tournament, surpassing Lionel Messi, who ended with eight.

The Netherlands earned the Fifa Fair Play Award.

Spain’s success in these individual awards capped off a remarkable tournament for La Roja. They progressed impressively through the competition, mirroring their performance at Euro 2024. This victory positions them as both European and world champions, echoing the legacy of the celebrated Spain team of 2008-2010.

With one more tournament left, the team looks forward to Euro 2028, where they will undoubtedly be among the favorites. Their dazzling performance in North America highlights their status as one of the giants of international football as the De la Fuente era continues.
