Juventus Aims for Consistency Against AZ Alkmaar Following Napoli Victory
Turin, Italy – Luciano Spalletti expressed optimism after Juventus’ 2-0 victory over Napoli, emphasizing the need for his team to maintain momentum as they prepare for their Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar. He stated that the Bianconeri showed “positive signs” in their recent performance but underlined the importance of building on this success in the upcoming fixture, scheduled to start in Alkmaar at 20:00 GMT (21:00 CET).
Juventus currently remains unbeaten in the Europa League, with two wins and a draw against Stade Rennais. However, injuries have sidelined several key players, including Weston McKennie, Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli, Nico Gonzalez, Francisco Conceicao, Zeki Celik, Khephren Thuram, and Kamil Grabara.
Spalletti Warns of AZ Alkmaar Challenge
In his comments to Sky Sport Italia, Spalletti praised Alajbegovic’s performance against Napoli, mentioning his ability to create scoring opportunities from unexpected situations. He also highlighted the need for effective rotations as Juventus prepares for their fixture against Fiorentina.
“It’s crucial that we replicate the strong performance we delivered against Napoli,” Spalletti stated. “We need to acknowledge our strengths and consistently demonstrate them moving forward; otherwise, we risk starting over.”
McKennie’s absence is due to a fitness issue, although he is expected to return during the Serie A weekend. Pape Matar Sarr will take his place in the starting lineup. Spalletti noted that while the squad has welcomed back players like Juan Cabal and Lloyd Kelly, they too must display the right attitude on the pitch.

AZ Alkmaar presents a formidable challenge, remaining unbeaten in 17 UEFA matches at home since October 2023. Spalletti acknowledged the team’s strong home record and stressed the need for a high-level performance. He stated, “We must not approach this match with a mindset of simply controlling the game—we need to elevate our play and consistently recognize the critical moments that arise.” He added, “Juventus still requires a deeper understanding of the game’s nuances.”
