Spalletti Praises Juventus Players’ Victory, Calls for Fan Support

Juventus Coach Luciano Spalletti Praises Team After 2-0 Victory Over Napoli

After Juventus secured a 2-0 victory against Napoli, coach Luciano Spalletti commended his players for their efforts while also addressing the disappointing reactions from certain fans. He emphasized the importance of fan support, saying, “We need our fans by our side, the real face of this stadium.”

The atmosphere surrounding the Bianconeri was grim prior to this match, following a 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Genoa just days earlier.

In the match against Napoli, a couple of near-misses emerged, including Juan Cabal hitting the woodwork and a brilliant early save by Guglielmo Vicario on a shot from Lorenzo Lucca. However, two remarkable late goals from Kerim Alajbegovic and Jeremie Boga secured the victory, with both players scoring from outside the box after Luca Marianucci received a second yellow card.

Following the match, Spalletti embraced his staff members, reflecting on their shared efforts throughout the challenging period.

“They suffer along with me,” he stated, adding, “I am the first to arrive and the last to leave, but they are usually there with me for most of it.” He remarked that the credit for the victory today belonged to the team, who displayed determination and regained their confidence, especially in the second half.

Spalletti acknowledged that while their performance wasn’t perfect, the victory was essential for the team’s confidence moving forward. He cited a pivotal motivational speech by Carnevali, which helped the players regain focus and confidence during the game. “There are players who genuinely plunge into this spiral and lose confidence in everything they do,” he explained.

There were some injury concerns arising from the match. Weston McKennie exited at half-time due to an adductor issue, while Alajbegovic was seen on the sidelines with an ice pack on his calf.

When asked about the current structure of the team and the necessity for future investments, Spalletti expressed discontent. “We are not structured in anything,” he stated, mentioning the forced substitutions, including McKennie and Sarr, who had been too ill to play.

As the match began, fans demonstrated their frustration, calling for the team to show more fight, which included a protest outside the stadium prior to kick-off. In response to these tensions, Spalletti stated, “We’ve just got to keep going. This is a moment we have to handle. Right now, we must be solid, along with a stadium whose real face is that of the second half, fighting alongside the team.”

He urged unity among fans and players, acknowledging that while there might be criticism, the team needs support now more than ever: “This stadium must return to being our fortress.” He expressed gratitude to the fans who remained supportive during the match, concluding, “It was a victory deserved by the players, who deserve a big round of applause. Well done, lads.”
