Spalletti Takes Full Juventus Squad, Including Injured Players, on Retreat Ahead of Napoli Clash

Juventus Squad Enters Retreat Ahead of Napoli Match Following Genoa Defeat

Luciano Spalletti has taken the entire Juventus squad into a retreat at the J Hotel in preparation for Sunday’s important clash against Napoli. Notably, the club’s injured players have also joined the team.

According to Tuttosport, the squad checked in on Friday morning and will remain at the hotel until they head to the Allianz Stadium for the 20:45 CET [19:45 GMT] kick-off. Kenan Yildiz, captain Manuel Locatelli, and Khephren Thuram, who are all recovering from long-term injuries, made a special effort to join their teammates during this crucial time. Kamil Grabara is the only player missing as he continues recovery from knee surgery in Poland.

Spalletti turns to Juventus retreat after Genoa defeat

This decision marks a shift in Spalletti’s approach, as he has traditionally not viewed a retreat as a form of punishment. His last experience with such a strategy dates back to April 2022, following a disappointing loss when he coached Napoli against Empoli. However, this retreat differs as all players will remain together until their match on Sunday.

The move comes in light of Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat at Genoa, a result for which Spalletti expressed remorse to the fans. Currently, Juventus shares 14 points with Napoli in the league standings.

Spalletti has opted not to impose restrictions on player behavior during the retreat, demonstrating his trust in the squad. Tuttosport reports that only Gleison Bremer and Francisco Conceição face disciplinary measures recently.
