The 31-year-old forward joined London City Lionesses from Real Sociedad in Spain last summer. During her time with The Pride in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Franssi made 18 appearances in the 2025/2026 season.
Franssi brings extensive experience to Sunderland, having played at a high level across several countries, including Spain and England, as well as her native Finland, Switzerland, Italy, and Denmark. She has won league titles with teams including PK-35 Vantaa, Juventus, and Fortuna Hjørring.
On the international front, Franssi has represented Finland 101 times, scoring seven goals. She is just eight caps away from breaking into her nation’s top 10 appearance-holders list.
Franssi becomes Sunderland’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
