Emergency services attended to De Miguel on the field before transporting him to Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz. Initially, Tenerife reported that he was “stable, despite the severity of his condition” while in the intensive care unit, before confirming a deterioration in his neurological status early Tuesday morning.

The club announced his death at 8 am on Tuesday, stating: “Heartbroken, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe this is true, we at CD Tenerife announce the tragic passing of Jesus de Miguel Alameda. There are no words of comfort. There is absolutely nothing that can ease this overwhelming sense of sadness.”

The statement continued: “We stand with his devastated family, with his loved ones, and with the entire Tenerife footballing community, who today mourn this cruel turn of events.”
