Headline: Spurs Face Another Injury Setback as Mathys Tel Exits Match Against Leeds
Tottenham Hotspur has suffered another setback in their attacking lineup following the injury to Mathys Tel, who limped off the field before half-time during the match against Leeds.
Tel sustained the injury after a challenging tackle from Jayden Bogle, who stepped on the forward’s ankle with his studs.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) took over four minutes to review the incident, deliberating whether it warranted a red card. Ultimately, referee John Brooks, who had not issued a caution to Bogle initially, upheld the original decision, allowing the right wing-back to continue in the match.
Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his frustration over the VAR decision, which compounded his woes when Tel indicated to the bench that he could no longer continue after attempting to play through the pain for five additional minutes.
Tel was substituted for Dominic Solanke in the 43rd minute, following Solanke’s exclusion from the starting line-up in the recent win against Crystal Palace.
Injuries have severely impacted De Zerbi’s attacking options this season, and the team now awaits news on the severity of Tel’s injury.

In addition to Tel, Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk are sidelined until after the international break, while Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are gradually recovering from serious knee injuries, with hopes for their return after the new year.
Tel has shown impressive form recently, scoring a remarkable solo goal in Spurs’ 2-0 victory over Chelsea on October 24, marking the club’s first win at Stamford Bridge since 2018.
