Valencia Targets FC Volendam Goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen
According to Jeroen Kapteijns, Spanish club Valencia is showing concrete interest in FC Volendam goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen. While FC Twente previously expressed interest in the 22-year-old, the club could not meet Volendam’s financial requirements. Volendam is seeking a fee between €2-3m for the player, which would mark the club’s second-largest transfer sale since Micky van de Ven’s €8.5m move to Wolfsburg.
Valencia remains keen on the young keeper despite Volendam’s relegation from the Eredivisie last season. Van Oevelen developed through the Volendam youth academy and made his professional debut during the 2023/2024 campaign. During the 2024/2025 season, he served as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, appearing in 30 matches as the team secured promotion to the Eredivisie. He played 33 games last season as the club departed the top flight, though he drew notice for several strong performances.
Valencia finished in ninth place last season, marking a significant distance from their historical standing in Spanish football. The club currently lists Macedonian keeper Stole Dimitrievski and Spain’s Cristian Rivero on their roster. Valencia primarily relied on the 32-year-old Dimitrievski in goal throughout the previous campaign.
