Vasco’s Penalty Protest Denied in Match Against Athletico; Watch Highlights 🎥

Vasco Satisfied with Comeback but Frustrated by Referee’s Penalty Decision Against Athletico-PR

For the second consecutive match, Vasco expressed frustration with the officiating following a controversial no-call on a potential penalty. During their game on Wednesday, December 4, against Athletico-PR, the focus turned to striker Brenner, who believed he was fouled by goalkeeper Mycael after attempting to capitalize on a rebound. Despite his claims of being brought down in the penalty area, the referee opted not to award a penalty and chose not to consult VAR.

At the moment of the incident, Athletico-PR held a 1-0 lead. However, Vasco rallied in the second half and ultimately secured victory with three goals.

This grievance followed a similar complaint from Vasco the previous Sunday, December 1, when they faced Palmeiras in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinals. In that match, the team sought a penalty after the ball struck the hand of defender Alexander Barboza while the game progressed at Nubank Parque.
