Wakefield Trinity Announces Departure of Key Players Including Mason Lino
Samoa international half-back Mason Lino headlines a group of seven players set to leave Wakefield Trinity at the conclusion of the current season. The 32-year-old scrum-half bids farewell to Belle Vue after five seasons, during which he played a crucial role in helping the club achieve promotion back to Super League in 2024.
Since joining from the NRL side Newcastle Knights, Lino has made nearly 130 appearances for Wakefield, though he has had to contend with significant injury setbacks this season.
In addition to Lino, centre Cam Scott is heading to Bradford Bulls, while hooker Tyson Smoothy is returning to the NRL to join Perth Bears. Australian back Lachlan Walmsley will also depart the club after the season, having scored 18 Super League tries in the last two years.
The club has also confirmed that experienced second-rower Jay Pitts will conclude his second spell at Wakefield.
