Brighton Secures Season-Long Loan for Canadian Striker Promise David
Brighton & Hove Albion has completed the signing of Canada striker Promise David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a season-long loan deal, which includes an obligation to purchase for a reported fee of £22 million.
The 25-year-old forward joins the team after a notable tenure in Belgium, where he made 82 appearances for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, netting 41 goals and contributing nine assists since his arrival in 2024.
David began his career in Canada and played stints in Croatia and the United States. He also had experiences with two clubs in the Maltese Premier League before moving to Estonian club Nomme Kalju and subsequently to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
His international experience includes appearing as a substitute in four of Canada’s five World Cup matches, where he scored in the 2-1 group stage loss to Switzerland.
Promise David has garnered attention from Brighton for some time. Sporting director Mike Cave expressed enthusiasm over his addition, saying, “Promise is someone we have been watching for some time; he is an out-and-out striker who possesses outstanding physical attributes and a track record of scoring goals.” Cave added, “His experience at international level and in European competition will hopefully prove valuable this season. At 25, he’s entering his prime playing years and we’re excited to see him continue to develop in our environment.”
Brighton is set to face Tromso in the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday at 18:00 BST, just ahead of their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Sunday at 14:00.
