Barcelona Competes with Arsenal and Manchester United for 20-Year-Old French Forward – Report

Headline: Barcelona Faces Competition for Eli Junior Kroupi as Arsenal and Manchester United Show Interest

Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, just 20 years old, may become a focal point in the upcoming transfer negotiations as clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United join Tottenham Hotspur in pursuing the young talent ahead of the January transfer window.

Kroupi has garnered attention again after returning from a foot injury. However, Bournemouth is firm in their stance to retain him for the duration of the season. According to Graeme Bailey from TEAMtalk, both Arsenal and Manchester United have made inquiries regarding Kroupi’s physical condition and contract status.

Alongside these clubs, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain continue to show interest in the French player, while Tottenham remains involved after their previous interest during the last summer transfer window. Despite the growing list of suitors, sources indicate that Bournemouth has no intention of negotiating Kroupi’s departure in January.

Barcelona’s interest in Kroupi initiated during the summer transfer window when the club evaluated options to enhance their center-forward lineup. The Bournemouth attacker was identified as a potential candidate to strengthen the team.

Kroupi emerged as a prominent figure in English football, netting an impressive 13 goals in 33 Premier League matches during the 2025-26 season. His rise to prominence was briefly disrupted by a fractured fifth metatarsal sustained during Bournemouth’s training camp in Austria, which led to surgery and sidelined him for several months. He made his return on October 25 as a substitute in Bournemouth’s 3-0 victory against Manchester United, followed by a brief appearance against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

Following his return, interest intensified from Arsenal and Manchester United, who are evaluating his current situation. However, neither club has reportedly made formal bids or initiated negotiations yet.

Bournemouth’s position complicates matters for potential suitors; the club intends to keep Kroupi as a vital asset for the remainder of the season. Unless there is a shift in Bournemouth’s stance, January may not present an opportunity for Barcelona to secure Kroupi’s services. Even in a hypothetical summer transfer in 2027, the growing competition for the young forward complicates the prospect of a transfer.
