Manchester United will take on Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday, with manager Michael Carrick expressing confidence about his future despite a recent setback against Marco Palestra’s Chelsea.

“Yes,” was his firm reply.

United has not won in nine competitive matches since their 4-0 Champions League victory over Sabah FK, suffering defeats against several teams, including Manchester City, Brighton, Atletico Madrid, Como, Bournemouth, and Chelsea.

“There is no hiding from the fact that we haven’t won enough games. The boys were in a good place in the first half,” Carrick remarked.

Frustration among fans has grown regarding Carrick’s performance, leading to speculation about his potential dismissal, with names like Italy’s Antonio Conte is among the names being considered for his replacement.

“There is a lot of emotion; we’re a great football club, and we want to win football matches. The supporters come, make a lot of effort, and pay a lot of money to watch us play. You can see from today that the boys had the game in the right place and that things have gone against us,” Carrick stated.

“Things have gone against us, and gone against us in a big way. Unraveled quickly. A lot of emotion right now,” he added.

“We have got to move forward and take the things that worked for us today, a lot of the good things, especially in the first half, and use that moving forward.”
