Diego Simeone Matches LaLiga Win Record as Atlético de Madrid Beats Levante
Atlético de Madrid comfortably defeated Levante 2-0 on a day that will go down in Spanish football history thanks to Diego Pablo Simeone’s latest feat.
A legendary milestone in record time
With this result, ‘Cholo’ reached 344 wins in 565 matches in charge in the domestic league (alongside 123 draws and 98 defeats). He thus officially drew level with the legendary Luis Aragonés (who recorded 344 wins in 756 matches) as the coach with the most victories in LaLiga history.
Efficiency and enduring success at Atlético
The Argentine coach has not only drawn level at the top of the competition’s all-time standings, but has done so with a better win rate than the ‘Sage of Hortaleza’, needing almost two hundred fewer matches to achieve the feat and reaffirm his dominance in the Atlético dugout.
