This decision perplexed the coach and led to various doubts, protests, and comments, detailed below.

🤯 Penalty awarded, then overturned by the referee after OFR

Referee Ferrieri Caputi initially pointed to the spot for a handball by Milla as Busio controlled the ball. A prolonged VAR check ensued, culminating in an on-field review. Initially, it appeared the review aimed to determine the location of the contact, whether inside or outside the penalty area. However, after several minutes, the decision changed: no penalty and no punishable offence.

The referee’s reversal prompted criticism, especially from Luca Marelli, DAZN’s refereeing analyst, who voiced his disagreement: “The arm moves outwards, not inwards! So many on-field decisions have been upheld, and this comes nowhere near warranting an OFR“.

🤬 Nicola hits out: “The AIA must answer for the penalty decision!”

“We can analyse the technical side of the game. In our last four matches, we’ve faced Napoli, Genoa, Inter, and Como. In the last two, they didn’t steamroll us. We tried to maintain our structure, and we can keep working, but it’s challenging when you create the conditions to do your job and tip the balance, only for our lads to be given reason to lose their cool.

We were at risk again at the end too. Thank goodness Kaiki’s dive was spotted. The referee did her job; I don’t understand what happened afterwards. The AIA will have to answer for that.
