Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel passed away on Tuesday after sustaining injuries from a collision during Monday’s match, as confirmed by the team. He was 30 years old.

In the dying moments of Tenerife’s game against Andorra, de Miguel was involved in a serious collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono at midfield.

Owono received a red card immediately after the incident and began to leave the pitch. De Miguel initially lay on the ground before becoming motionless, prompting an opposing player to urgently call for medical assistance. Once Owono realized the severity of the situation, he paused his exit and returned to check on de Miguel. The goalkeeper now faces a suspension due to the incident.

The match was subsequently halted. De Miguel was transported to a hospital, where Tenerife stated he was initially considered “stable despite the severity of his condition.” However, their updates later indicated a worsening of his neurological state.

On Tuesday morning, Tenerife announced the tragic passing of de Miguel, stating:

Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.

There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness. We stand alongside his devastated family, alongside his loved ones, alongside all of tinerfeñismo that today weeps for this cruel outcome.

The family of Jesús de Miguel thanks each and every one of the expressions of support received, and likewise requests, from the heart, the utmost respect for their privacy in these terrible moments.

Following the announcement, Andorra released their own statement extending their “most sincere condolences” to de Miguel’s family.

Both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona also issued statements expressing their condolences and support for de Miguel’s family. Born in Madrid, de Miguel had a professional career that began in 2015 and included stints with eight different teams. He joined Tenerife in 2025 on a three-year contract, scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances.

In response to de Miguel’s death, the Royal Spanish Football Federation declared that all matches would be suspended on Tuesday.
