Ismaila Sarr Sets Landmark as Senegal’s All-Time Leading FIFA World Cup Goalscorer
Ismaila Sarr has made his mark in Senegalese football history by becoming the country’s leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cup competitions. The 28-year-old forward has shown exceptional talent throughout the tournament, netting four goals during the group stage and adding another in Senegal’s Round of 32 match against Belgium.
This fifth goal enabled Sarr to surpass the previous record of three goals, formerly held by the late Papa Bouba Diop. Consequently, he now holds the title of Senegal’s highest scorer in World Cup history. Sarr’s accomplishment also ties him with the record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single FIFA World Cup edition.
