Jose Mourinho Pushes for Further Real Madrid Squad Reinforcements
Real Madrid is experiencing a busy summer, having already integrated four new players into Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of the 2026-27 season. Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, and Bernardo Silva have all officially signed with the club and are expected to arrive shortly. Despite these arrivals, new head coach Jose Mourinho remains unsatisfied with the current roster.
Mourinho reportedly seeks at least two additional signings: a centre-back and a midfielder. While the club views the defensive reinforcement as a realistic goal—with Alessandro Bastoni and Nico Schlotterbeck listed as primary targets—securing a new midfielder appears increasingly unlikely.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid publicly confirmed they had no interest in Enzo Fernandez, who was Mourinho’s preferred choice. Furthermore, with Aurelien Tchouameni having agreed to a new five-year contract, reports from MD indicate that a further midfield addition is now considered almost impossible.
One must leave before signing comes in
Real Madrid maintains that a current player must be sold before Mourinho can bring in a new midfielder. Although Tchouameni was previously a candidate for a transfer amid interest from Manchester United, that possibility has faded. This leaves Eduardo Camavinga as the only realistic departure option, yet the French midfielder has informed club leadership that he will reject any offers, even if the club chooses to accept them.
Mourinho does not currently view Camavinga as a part of his plans for the 2026-27 season, meaning he may be forced to utilize the player out of necessity. While the manager preferred to bring in a new face to add a fresh dimension to his midfield options, he now appears set to settle with the current squad.
