AFC Wimbledon Secures James Tilley in Permanent Transfer from Wycombe
AFC Wimbledon has re-signed winger James Tilley from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old enters his third stint with the Dons, signing a three-year contract after spending the latter half of last season on loan at Plough Lane.
Tilley played a vital role in helping manager Johnnie Jackson’s squad achieve promotion to League One during the 2024-25 campaign. He contributed crucial goals in away matches against Accrington Stanley and Morecambe, paving the way for the team’s success. After leaving Wimbledon for Wycombe last summer, he returned on loan and assisted the club in maintaining their League One status following their promotion.
“I’m absolutely buzzing,” Tilley told the club’s official website. “This is the one club that feels like home for me and my family. Wimbledon is where I’ve been my happiest playing football.”
The winger first joined Wimbledon on a permanent basis in the summer of 2023. Across his previous two spells with the club, he has made 115 appearances and scored 19 goals. During his most recent loan period, Tilley produced a standout moment by scoring a long-range winner against Mansfield Town, an effort that fans later voted as the club’s goal of the season.
