Renée Slegers has announced that Reid will not return before Christmas, marking a setback after she had begun training again with her teammates.

During her pre-Aston Villa press briefing, Slegers remarked: “Katie Reid was training with the team when she suffered an ankle injury, which has set her back. It is unfortunate, so we do not expect her back before Christmas.”

She noted, “This is unfortunate for her and represents a setback. Otherwise, the rest is unchanged from last night.”

In more positive news, Kim Little has made her return to play in the Champions League, and Frida Maanum is also nearing her comeback.

Slegers stated, “Having Kim back last night was excellent for the team.” She also indicated that there may be a chance for Maanum to join the lineup soon, while Daphne van Domselaar is also progressing and might return earlier than anticipated.

Chloe Kelly remains unavailable as Arsenal continues her evaluation following a specialist’s advice for her ongoing hamstring issue that has troubled her since late September.

Slegers could not provide a definitive timeline regarding Kelly’s recovery.

Slegers commented on Kelly’s situation, “Establishing a clear timeline is challenging. We are monitoring her day by day, assessing her symptoms and what actions we can take. She had a specialist appointment a few days ago, and we will see how things progress, but she won’t be available for the weekend.”

For Reid, this new injury is particularly challenging, considering she had just returned to first-team training after an extensive break of one year.
