Arsenal Leads Race to Sign Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez
In a recent episode of the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke shared insights about Arsenal’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez this summer. O’Rourke noted,
“I don’t think he’d (Alvarez) be a top target for Liverpool this summer. Obviously he’s a top player, there’s no getting away from that.

“It does seem that Arsenal are the ones pushing if he is to come back to the Premier League, but again, that’s going to be a big ask for Arsenal.”
Alvarez’s Impressive Numbers In The Premier League
Alvarez had an impressive season with Atletico Madrid, showcasing his skills in the final third. The Argentina international scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 49 matches for Diego Simeone’s team last season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old ranks among the top strikers in La Liga, making him a valuable asset for Arsenal as they aim to strengthen their squad this summer.

His contract at the Wanda Metropolitano extends until 2030, complicating Arsenal’s potential efforts to secure him at a lower price later this year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Alvarez On Board?
Alvarez excels at creating space for himself to take shots on goal and possesses the vision to set up promising chances for his teammates. He is also adept at dribbling, enhancing his effectiveness in the attack.

The talented forward not only scores but also contributes assists, making him a versatile player. While he primarily functions as a striker, he can effectively play as a winger on either side if needed. With prior experience in the Premier League, he would adapt quickly to life at the North London club.
Adding Alvarez to Arsenal’s lineup could provide an upgrade in both quality and depth for manager Mikel Arteta’s attack. Equipped with the skills to compete for a first-team position, Alvarez, at 26, still has his prime years ahead, making him an ideal target for Arteta this summer.
