Rather than question Nighswonger’s capabilities or attitude, Slegers recognized that the depth of Arsenal’s squad created difficulties, admitting that choosing just 11 starters and five substitutes meant some players inevitably missed out, describing it as “a burden I have to carry.”
Nighswonger has secured a contract running until 2028 as she aims to re-establish herself in the NWSL and strengthen her role with the United States national team.
