Athletic Club Announces Contract Extension for Young Talent Christian Imga
Athletic Club has confirmed the contract extension of Christian Imga until June 30, 2031. The Bilbao club has made a significant move to secure the future of their promising Lezama prospect with a long-term agreement that includes an automatic extension option.
Born in 2009 in Zumarraga, the forward has rapidly risen as one of the most notable talents within Athletic’s youth system. At merely 17 years old, he has already made substantial contributions to the first team in both LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.
Imga made his mark in the Copa del Rey by scoring against AD Prat, and his official debut in LaLiga took place at San Mamés during a decisive 4-0 victory against Getafe CF.
Currently, the academy graduate balances his time between the Bilbao Athletic and first-team squads, demonstrating remarkable progress since joining from Deportivo Alavés’s academy in 2024.
This signing arrives at a pivotal time for Imga, as he prepares to join Spain’s under-17 squad for the World Cup in Qatar. This commitment reflects a strategic investment in the club’s future, situated in Ibaigane.
