Barcelona prepared to offload Roony Bardghji amid attacking squad surplus

Barcelona’s summer recruitment drive has enhanced Hansi Flick’s attacking options ahead of the new season, but every arrival inevitably creates another selection dilemma.

While the spotlight has largely focused on the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, the club’s newly built frontline has also left one of its most promising young talents searching for a new path.

Roony Bardghji, who arrived in Catalonia with a reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young wingers last summer, is now expected to leave Barcelona before the transfer window closes.

According to AS, Bardghji is no longer expected to play a significant role under Flick during the 2026/27 campaign, making a temporary or structured departure the most realistic solution for all parties.

Flick’s attacking depth has changed Bardghji’s prospects

The Swedish youngster reported for pre-season alongside the rest of Barcelona’s first-team squad and completed the club’s routine medical and fitness examinations.

“Everything’s fine, everything’s fine,” Bardghji said after undergoing the assessments.

However, the outlet mentions that Flick plans to meet the winger personally to explain the club’s sporting situation and why regular first-team opportunities will be extremely limited this season because Barcelona’s attacking depth has improved.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha remain central figures in Flick’s plans, while the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi have significantly increased competition on both flanks.

With four high-profile options already competing for minutes, Bardghji’s route into the starting XI has become increasingly narrow.

Hence, rather than keeping the youngster on the fringes of the squad, Barcelona believe consistent football elsewhere would offer a better environment for his development.

Barcelona still see a future for the Swedish winger

Despite the likelihood of a summer exit, Barcelona have not lost faith in Bardghji’s long-term potential.

The report suggests the club’s preferred solution is either a season-long loan or a permanent transfer that includes a buy-back clause.

Such a structure would allow Bardghji to gain senior experience while ensuring Barcelona retain control over a player they still consider one of the most technically gifted young attackers.

On that front, interest is unlikely to be a problem, as several European clubs are already monitoring the situation, aware that Barcelona’s willingness to negotiate has created an opportunity to sign a developing winger.
