Barcelona Pushes for Youth Reinforcements Amid Busy Transfer Window
As the World Cup reaches its closing stages, Barcelona remains highly active in the transfer market.
The club nears the completion of two deals this week for Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu, with the latter expected to bolster the youth department.
Barcelona continues to scout for talent in the youth segment, with Jorge Salinas emerging as a primary target for a move to Catalonia.
Barcelona ready to offer players in exchange
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona intends to include several youth academy players in a deal to bring Salinas to the Camp Nou, although negotiations have proven complicated.
Barcelona prefers not to meet Racing Santander’s full cash valuation, so the club proposed including young prospects to bridge the gap, though no specific names have surfaced.
The parties also discussed a potential season-long loan back to Racing, with super-agent Jorge Mendes managing the player’s affairs.
Salinas remains a highly coveted talent, and Barcelona faces competition from Atletico Madrid, which has also shown interest in the versatile defender.
The price disagreement
A significant difference of opinion regarding the valuation of Salinas serves as the primary obstacle.
Barcelona hoped to sign the youngster under the impression that his release clause sat at €8 million.
However, following Racing’s promotion to LaLiga, the Cantabrian club maintains that the figure doubled to €16 million, with the dispute centering on the timing of that increase.
Racing has clarified its stance, previously issuing a strong response to Barcelona’s interest by insisting that they do not haggle over their key players.
Barcelona’s interest in Salinas follows his impressive 2025-26 campaign, which he capped by winning the European Under-19 Championship with Spain.
His versatility across the backline makes him an appealing prospect for Barcelona, as he fits the club’s desire for an adaptable defensive profile.
While he remains under contract at Racing until June 2029, the player will ultimately influence the direction of his future.
