FC Köln Rejects Borussia Dortmund’s Latest Offer for Said El Mala

FC Köln has reportedly turned down yet another significant bid from Borussia Dortmund for talented German forward Said El Mala, despite the overall proposal exceeding €55 million. This latest offer came in on Wednesday evening, as detailed by Sky Germany.

Dortmund’s proposal included a guaranteed fee below €50 million, enhanced by multiple easily achievable bonuses that could elevate the total transfer package beyond €55 million. However, Köln’s Geißblog indicates that Dortmund included a sell-on percentage in their attempt to sway Köln’s decision, but this too failed to persuade the club.

According to a report from the local Express, Köln has firmly declined the offer, insisting on receiving at least €50 million as a guaranteed base fee, regardless of any bonuses or resale income in the future. This clarification comes in light of Dortmund’s recent efforts to secure the player.

On Tuesday, Get German Football News reported that BVB was preparing an overall package worth approximately €55 million for El Mala. Initial information from Sky suggested Dortmund aimed to structure an offer around €50 million guaranteed plus an additional €5 million in bonuses. However, the proposal submitted appears to differ, with the fixed amount not meeting Köln’s expectations.

Dortmund has increased their focus on the transfer after previously having a €45 million package rejected. That earlier bid included €37 million guaranteed alongside €8 million in bonuses. Despite Dortmund’s increased offer, Köln’s stance remains unchanged.

BVB is willing to create a deal that significantly surpasses €50 million, but Köln continues to demand that the guaranteed transfer fee itself reach €50 million before they will agree to El Mala’s departure.

FC Köln have reportedly rejected another major Borussia Dortmund offer for German attacking prospect Said El Mala despite the total package exceeding €55m. According to Sky Germany, BVB submitted their latest proposal on Wednesday evening. Dortmund offered a guaranteed fee below €50m, supplemented by several easily achievable bonuses that could quickly push the overall transfer package ultimately above €55m.

Köln’s Geißblog additionally reports that Dortmund included a sell-on percentage in their latest attempt to convince Köln.That has still not proved sufficient. Both the Geißblog and the local Express tabloid report that Köln rejected the offer and remain determined to receive at least €50m as a guaranteed base fee, irrespective of bonuses or future resale income. The development provides an important clarification following Dortmund’s latest push.

Get German Football News reported on Tuesday that BVB were preparing a package worth approximately €55m for El Mala. Sky information at that stage suggested Dortmund intended to offer €50m guaranteed plus another €5m in bonuses. The proposal ultimately submitted appears to have contained a different structure, with the fixed component remaining below Köln’s required threshold.

Dortmund have nevertheless increased their commitment substantially after Köln previously rejected a €45m package consisting of €37m guaranteed and €8m in bonuses. The fundamental disagreement therefore remains unchanged.

BVB are prepared to construct an overall package comfortably exceeding €50m. Köln continue to insist that €50m must arrive as the guaranteed transfer fee itself before they are prepared to sanction El Mala’s departure.
